Poor Sleep Makes You Reach for Fattening Pick-Me-Ups

If restless, sleepless nights have been plaguing you lately, it is very likely that rich, fattening, sugary foods have become a familiar staple in your diet as well. Many of us turn to sweets to provide a quick sugar rush and temporary energy boost. Others may crave crunchy, greasy potato chips. The clock strikes 2pm, and the vending machine seems to be calling your name. A juicy burger topped with lettuce and tomato with a side of French fries starts sounding like a perfectly balanced meal for dinner. While we may realize that the crash afterward is often worse than the fatigue we were fighting before eating, it is frequently too difficult to avoid temptation when overly tired.
